What is Crossfit?
CrossFit defined is “constantly varied, functional movements, performed at high intensity.” Our specialty is not specializing, while covering the 10 fundamentals of fitness: cardio and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, speed, power, coordination, balance, accuracy and agility
What is a WOD?
WOD stands for Workout Of the Day. As we are constantly varied it is the easiest way to refer to our workouts in a broad spectrum

Do I need to be in shape to start CrossFit?
I get this one more than anything, “I want to get in shape first.” Let me be clear, there is fit, and there is CrossFit; the only way to get in shape for CrossFit is to CrossFit.
What if I cannot do the required weight or movement?
We have two terms we refer to here: 1. Universal Scalability – meaning all of the movements and weights can be augmented to your individual skill/strength level. 2. Relative Intensity – Universal scalability leads to relative intensity, meaning everyone, regardless of weight or augmentations, feels equally as awesome/awful at the end of the WOD.
How are classes structured?
All classes are run in small groups. Every class begins with a warm-up, followed by a weightlifting session, followed by a conditioning WOD. We take the time every class to coach every movement. I don’t care if you have been CrossFitting for 2 years, 2 months, or 2 days, everyone can always improve on their form.
What do I bring to CrossFit?
You need workout clothing, some water to drink, and a good attitude. LEAVE YOUR EGO AT HOME!
How long are the classes?
The classes run 60 minutes. Sometimes they are a little shorter, but we like to take the time to coach.
Can participating in CrossFit hurt me?
This is always a question I get asked and it is double sided. Anytime you participate in physical activity you run the risk of injury. That being said, we coach every movement and scale appropriately. We also follow an acronym for newbies: M – Mechanics C – Consistency I – Intensity We teach you how to do the movement, we make sure you do it right 100 times out of 100, then we bring the intensity.

Yellowstone CrossFit is more than a gym, we are a family; a family of misfit degenerates having a really awesome time getting fit!
What should I expect my first time? First weeks?
The first time you should expect to be challenged, but that is why you chose to try CrossFit anyway, right?
Who is CrossFit for?
CrossFit is for literally everyone. As stated on the “about” page, the needs of our olympic athletes are no different than those of our grandparents, just the degree is. We have people pushing 60 to 9 year old kids working out next to each other. We have small business owners, teachers, waitresses, moms and dads, etc. All walks of life, all levels of fitness and athletic backgrounds, one gym.
Will CrossFit make me too bulky? (ladies)
I hear this one almost as much as “I have to be in shape first.” My argument for this one is simple. I tell every woman with this argument to go grow a beard. Wake up every morning and try as hard as you can to grow a beautiful, thick, face mane. Not happening. Not happening because you don’t have the testosterone levels capable of doing that. Same thing with weights; those ladies you see who are legit huge have added testosterone to the system with a needle.
